Environmental Management System ISO 14001Dreadnought Tiles forms part of Hinton Perry & Davenhill Ltd who also manufacture Ketley Bricks. We take our responsibilities towards the environment very seriously and have implement the policy set out below to minimise our overall environmental impact and prevent adverse environmental effects. The environmental policy described covers all the activities of Hinton Perry & Davenhill Ltd. on the site at Dreadnought Works. This site has been in continuous operation since 1805 and our EMS ISO 14001:2004 accreditation reflect the continuous evolution and improvement throughout the company's long history together with the high standard we aim to achieve in all areas of our operations. Hinton Perry & Davenhill Ltd are certified by Global Group to have been assessed and registered against the provisions of ISO 14001:2004.
Hinton, Perry and Davenhill Ltd, Environmental PolicyHinton, Perry and Davenhill Ltd is a long established manufacturer of Plain Clay Rooftiles, and has been operating from the same site since 1805. Ketley Brick Co.Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary company producing Facing and Engineering Bricks, Special Shapes and Pavers. The scope of the Environmental Management System is for the Manufacture & Supply of Clay roofing Tiles and Fittings, Facing and Engineering Bricks, Special Shapes and Pavers The operations on site impart Environmental impacts affecting the local and global environment, including the consumption of natural resources, energy and water. Environmental management is a component within all activities of the company, and is an integral part of the operational and financial structure of the company. Its objectives are:- · Encourage staff and employee involvement in environmental issues · Promote energy conservation by efficient use, careful planning and design · Minimise waste and ensure that there is effective control, which promotes recycling where possible and provides responsible disposal, particularly with regard to hazardous waste · Strive to eliminate the release of pollutants, to be achieved by application of discharge controls, and also by initial assessment and continuing evaluation of the appropriateness of and need for any activity which could have an impact on the environment · To be committed to operate to standards, wherever practicable, higher than those required by law, regulations, codes of practice or customer requirements · To carry out all business activities in a manner, wherever practicable which minimises the adverse effect on the environment and local communities · To strive for continual improvement in all business activities and operations in the prevention of pollution · To fulfil the requirements of an EMS completely to National and European standards · To establish company and departmental environmental assessment. Audit and monitoring programmes which aim to ensure compliance with National laws and company policy · To maintain a procedure guide setting out objectives and standards in a concise manner · To provide appropriate environment training for Hinton, Perry and Davenhill Ltd employees, to enable them to perform their duties in a manner consistent with these environmental policy objectives · To ensure that Hinton, Perry and Davenhill Ltd facilities are constructed, operated and maintained to the highest appropriate standard · To respond quickly and effectively to environmental incidents involving Hinton, Perry and Davenhill Ltd facilities, equipment or products · To encourage liaison with local communities to ensure appropriate response to their needs and concerns · To seek and conserve resources by making the most efficient use of energy and raw materials · To operate with appropriate authorities in examining emerging environmental issues and their resolution Application Alex Patrick-Smith Managing Director January 2011
