Colour Matching
Dreadnought have over 200 years of experience in the manufacture of naturally coloured plain clay roof tiles. Over this period we have been invited to supply tiles for many prestigeous restoration projects. Dreadnought are the only clay brick and tile factory in the UK that specialises exclusively in clay products and because of our extensive expertise we are able to match almost any clay tile colour. Send us a sample of what you would like to copy and we will provide a solution that meets your requirements.
Dreadnought also supply projects to match brands whose names continue to exist but whose colours, appearance and character have been significantly altered by changes in the manufacturing process. If a single Dreadnought colour does not provide a satisfactory match to the originals, then often a combination of tile colours will provide a close copy. The re-roofing of the National Motorcycle Museum offers a perfect example. Click here to view the case study. The roof of the National Motorcycle Museum was originally covered with Rosemary tiles, however following a fire which destroyed more than half the building it was found that the "new" Rosemary tiles were no longer a good match for the original Rosemary tiles. Dreadnought Tiles were selected as a better match for the original Rosemary tiles, as Dreadnought tiles are still made in the traditional way. Changes in the manufacturing process for "new" Rosemary tiles has altered their appearance significantly.
Tile MatchingDreadnought tiles are the closest match for various discontinued tiles or tiles manufactured by companies no longer in existence. In addition many current manufacturers have changed their plants so they can no longer match their own traditional colours. Examples of tiles which Dreadnought can match are: Broseley, Rosemary (from the now demolished Cannock factory), Leighswood and Daniel Platt. View a full list of discontinued tiles that Dreadnought can match. In addition Dreadnought are able to reproduce even the most complicated ornamental designs. Again all we need is a sample and we can provide you with an estimate and designs for the copy to match. |
