Staffordshire Blue
SmoothfacedDreadnought Staffordshire Blue tiles are alive with colour, their subtle variations highlighted by the different light conditions of the day. Some manufacturers produce a dark clay tile by applying a spray on stain to the surface. Dreadnought Staffordshire blue tiles however, are the genuine traditional product.
SandfacedThe Dreadnought Staffordshire Blue is the product of a skilled process, where the iron content of the Etruria Marl clay is converted to Blue through a strong reduction proces in shuttle kilns. This process was established by generations of brick and tile makers and the colour is unique to the Dreadnought factory.
Staffordshire Blue Tiles on the Methodist Care Home in Bedforshire. This is a fabulous example of a roof which is the dominanat feature of the building, broken up with sections of varying pitch and many interesting details. The Staffordshire Blue tiles complement the yellow bricks particularly well.
